New Horizon Montenegro d.o.o. was founded in 2024 with the goal of conducting scientific research and producing scorpions and scorpion venom.
The facility is located in Podgorica and produces scorpion venom approved according to international quality standards. The company aims to focus on fundamental and comprehensive research in the field of biomedicine – specifically, on biological resources such as scorpion venoms in Montenegro – with the goal of identifying active substances that could have therapeutic potential in various treatments.
Based on existing scientific knowledge, certain peptides and proteins from scorpion venom have shown promising results in combating serious diseases. Research and development in this area could lead to significant medical breakthroughs and offer new possibilities for therapies.
Recognizing the complexity and seriousness of this undertaking, the company will collaborate with leading experts in the fields of toxicology, oncology, and pharmacology, as well as with relevant institutions, to ensure the highest standards of quality and ethics in its work.
In addition to its scientific contribution, this project has the potential to benefit the local community by creating new jobs and promoting Montenegro as a center for biomedical research. The venom is produced from the Mediterranean spotted scorpion (Aegaeobuthus gibbosus gibbosus), a scorpion endemic to Montenegro.
We maintain our work and activities by focusing on the production of scorpion venom to high quality standards. Scorpions are milked with special devices used by experts in the milking rooms. The venom obtained from milking is stored in a deep freezer at –20 °C. We conduct all our activities with respect for people, animals, and nature, without disrupting the ecological balance.

Our goal is to be the first producer of scorpion venom in Montenegro and the largest in Europe, and to be among the world leaders in quality. The company New Horizon Montenegro d.o.o. started with a few scorpions, and their number has multiplied several times over in a short period of time. The main goal is to export scorpion venom to the largest pharmaceutical companies in the world.
